Salve Regina University is a Sisters of Mercy school chartered in 1934 and founded in 1947. In keeping with the traditions of the Sisters of Mercy, and recognizing that all people are stewards of God's creation, the University encourages students to work for a world that is harmonious, just and merciful. Salve is located along the world famous cliff walk in historic Newport, Rhode Island. With a population of roughly 2200 undergraduate students, Salve is a vibrant part of the Newport community.
